Amarilla Golf Course
In southern Tenerife the Amarilla Golf & Country Club runs alongside the sea and are bordered by cliffs and enjoys spectacular views of the majestic Mount Teide. Opened in 1989 the course provides a stern test for professional golfers, whilst those whose ability is not so proficient won't find themselves out of their depth. The most impressive part of the course reaches its peak at the 5th hole, where the sea becomes a fairway, where it's necessary to cross it in order to reach the green. The facilities include an excellent practice area, driving range, putting green, pro shop, equestrian centre and Club House with tennis court, swimming pool, bar and restaurant.
From the clubhouse the first four holes run along the cliff, the short 5th to the 7th pick up the ocean bay, and the following three holes change direction before going down to the edge of the sea. The 14th and 15th turn back inland and the last three holes wind down avenues formed by trees and houses. The seventeenth runs parallel to the neighbouring Golf del Sur South Course and Amarilla finishes with a par 5 flourish at the clubhouse.
